We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team in Congleton. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the Finance Manager and wider finance function across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations, reporting, administration and general finance support.
The successful candidate will receive training across several areas of the department and on a range of systems, including Sage and a bespoke inhouse system. This role would suit someone who is organised, accurate, confident working to deadlines and keen to work within a small but fast-paced finance environment.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience within an accounts, finance or administrative role is preferred
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confidence using office systems
- Experience using Sage, or another accounting package, would be advantageous
- Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with colleagues, customers and suppliers
- Ability to prioritise workload, work independently and meet deadlines
- A proactive, flexible and team-focused approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up and maintaining customer and supplier accounts within internal accounting systems
- Supporting the purchase ledger process, including matching, checking, coding and processing supplier invoices through the bespoke purchase order system
- Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any discrepancies or invoice queries
- Supporting customer and supplier query resolution by telephone and email
- Processing and reviewing company credit card transactions, receipts and supporting documentation
- Maintaining accurate records, filing finance documents and ensuring information is updated in a timely manner
- Assisting with payment runs, remittance advice preparation and related supplier administration
- Assisting with general office administration, including post, telephone enquiries and shared inbox management
- Contributing to finance projects, process improvements and ad hoc tasks as required

Salary: £27,000 per annum
