A vacancy has arisen for a Night Yard Operative to be part of an expanding yard team ensuring the safe movements of vehicles and people entering and leaving the hub. All applicants must be prepared to work a permanent night shift in a time critical environment.
The purpose of this role is to control and coordinate the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of vehicles within the Central Hub during night operations, ensuring adherence to site rules, traffic management controls, and safe working practices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible, professional and proactive presence within the yard to support safe operations, ensuring drivers and colleagues can easily access guidance and support by utilising Sentry Huts.
- Control and coordinate vehicle movements on site, always ensuring safe segregation between vehicles and pedestrians.
- Manage traffic flow to prevent congestion, unsafe manoeuvres and unauthorised vehicle movements within the yard.
- Promote and enforce the correct use of personal protective equipment, addressing noncompliance in line with company procedures.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with site speed limits, designated routes and control measures, intervening where unsafe behaviour is observed.
- Ensure vehicles are positioned safely within designated areas and that curtain activities are carried out in accordance with site safety procedures.
- Identify and report unsafe or unsecured loads, preventing further movement where necessary until corrective action is taken and escalating to night management as needed.
- Communicate safety-critical information and emerging risks promptly using appropriate communication systems including radios.
- Interact with drivers in a professional, consistent and respectful manner, maintaining effective control of the yard environment, including during high pressure or time critical operational situations.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in yard operations or warehouse settings
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations
- Capability to work independently during night shifts
- Good communication skills for coordinating with colleagues
- Subject to DBS check

Hours: Contracted 45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, shifts between the hours of 6:00pm-7:00am
