Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care home. The successful candidate will plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, including those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer’s care. This role offers an enriching opportunity to make a positive impact on senior residents' wellbeing through creative and meaningful engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and social interaction among residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and capabilities, ensuring personalised activity plans.
- Organise group outings, entertainment sessions, and therapeutic activities that promote mental stimulation and physical activity.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
- Support residents during activities, providing assistance as needed with patience and empathy.
- Ensure all activities adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for residents at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote awareness of upcoming events and gather feedback.
Qualifications
- Experience working in assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in senior care, dementia care or Alzheimer’s care will be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with elderly residents, including those with cognitive impairments.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through meaningful activities.
- Organisational skills to plan and execute diverse programmes while managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of caregiving principles relevant to senior care settings is beneficial but not essential; training will be provided where necessary.
