Part time Mornings only, Teaching Assistants
Location: Stroud, GL5
Start Date: September 7th
Hours: Part Time, Monday to Friday 9am- 12:30pm
Contract: Long-term until the end of the academic year
Pay: £14.25 per hour - £16.00 per hour dependant on experience.
Axcis are working closely with a lovely primary school based in Stroud (GL5) and we are seeking dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join the schools inclusive and nurturing team to support children in Years 3 and 4 from September for the full academic year. These roles are ideal for individuals with experience in working with children with additional needs, particularly ADHD and speech and language difficulties.
Role 1: 1:1 Support for Year 4 Pupil with ADHD
Hours: 15 hours per week (5 mornings, Monday–Friday)
- Provide one-to-one support for a child with a diagnosis of ADHD
- Help the pupil stay engaged and focused in lessons
- Implement strategies outlined in the pupil's support plan
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress
- Build a positive, trusting relationship to support emotional regulation
Role 2: 1:2 Support for Two Year 3 Pupils
Hours: 18 hours per week (5 mornings, Monday–Friday)
- Provide shared support (1 adult to 2 pupils) for two children in Year 3:
- One pupil has ADHD
- One pupil has a speech and language delay
- Deliver targeted support tailored to each child's specific needs
- Use visual aids, structured routines, and communication strategies
- Collaborate with the class teacher and speech and language therapist
- Encourage social interaction, focus, and emotional development
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children or adults with additional needs
- Strong communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to children's individual needs
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Most importantly, having a passion for working with children with additional needs
Desirable:
- Experience supporting people with ADHD or speech and language needs (or SEN in general)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE, NVQ in Childcare/Education, a degree in a relevant field)
