Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and professional General Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen services. The successful candidate will help maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment while providing high-quality support with meal service, dishwashing, laundry, and general housekeeping duties. This role requires a positive attitude, excellent teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesHousekeeping
- Clean and maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices, and other designated spaces to a high standard.
- Dust, vacuum, mop, and sanitise floors and surfaces.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and report any maintenance issues or damaged equipment.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health, safety, and infection control procedures.
Laundry
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, iron, fold, and distribute laundry, including linen, towels.
- Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry area.
- Ensure laundry is handled in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
Kitchen & Meal Service
- Set up and clear dining areas before and after meal service.
- Collect used crockery, cutlery, and trays promptly and courteously.
- Wash dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and cookware using manual and commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen work areas and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.
General Duties
- Follow all health and safety, food hygiene, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across housekeeping, catering, and care teams.
- Provide a courteous, respectful, and professional service to residents, visitors, colleagues.
- Report hazards, accidents, equipment faults, or concerns promptly.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Previous experience in housekeeping, laundry, catering, or a similar support role is desirable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Reliable, punctual, and well organised.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Understanding of health and safety and infection prevention practices.

Pay: £12.21-£12.22 per hour
