Senior / Experienced Valeting ManagerJob Overview
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Valeting Manager to join our busy car sales garage and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our valeting department.
This is an important role within the business and would suit someone who has strong experience in vehicle valeting and is confident leading, managing and motivating a team.
You will be responsible for ensuring the team works efficiently, vehicles are completed within the required timescales and, most importantly, that every vehicle is presented to a consistently high standard before going onto the forecourt or being handed over to a customer.
You will lead by example and will be expected to get involved with the valeting yourself, while also overseeing the wider team. You will carry out regular quality inspections, address any poor standards or performance issues and make sure the team stays productive and on task throughout the day.
If you are someone who takes pride in vehicle presentation, has high standards and is confident managing people, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
Duties
- Lead and manage the valeting team on a daily basis.
- Allocate vehicles and workloads to the team and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
- Carry out hands-on vehicle valeting and detailing when required.
- Inspect completed vehicles and ensure all work meets the required quality standards.
- Identify and rectify poor-quality work before vehicles leave the valeting department.
- Ensure vehicles are prepared to a high standard for the forecourt and customer handovers.
- Keep the team motivated, productive and working efficiently throughout the day.
- Monitor staff performance and address any issues with standards, attitude or productivity.
- Train and support team members to improve their valeting skills and knowledge.
- Lead by example and set the standard for the rest of the team.
- Ensure all vehicles receive a consistent level of preparation and presentation.
- Organise and prioritise vehicles according to sales requirements and customer collection dates.
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure vehicles are ready when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe valeting area.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and cleaning products and materials are used correctly.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure the department has the necessary products and equipment.
- Follow appropriate health and safety procedures when using cleaning products and equipment.
- Take overall responsibility for the quality and efficiency of the valeting department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in vehicle valeting is essential.
- Previous experience in a senior valeting, detailing or supervisory role is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent knowledge of professional vehicle cleaning, valeting and detailing techniques.
- Strong eye for detail with exceptionally high standards of vehicle presentation.
- Confident carrying out quality checks and challenging poor-quality work when necessary.
- Organised with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Able to manage a team while also being willing to get hands-on with the work.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work at a good pace.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to give clear instructions to team members.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience within a car dealership or motor trade environment would be an advantage.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the valeting department rather than simply being a senior member of the team.
You will need to be confident managing people, keeping staff on task and maintaining standards. You should be the type of person who notices when something isn't right, deals with it and doesn't allow vehicles to leave the department below the standard expected.
This is a hands-on management position, so you must be prepared to valet vehicles yourself as well as manage and oversee the team.
If you have the experience, leadership skills and attention to detail to take charge of a busy valeting department, we would love to hear from you.
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
