Assistant Bar Manager

Are you an experienced hospitality professional with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service, developing teams, and leading from the front? The Ivy Lodge is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Bar Manager to join our busy, fast-paced, award winning venue.
Located within the exciting Shiprow Village development, you'll be part of the thriving hospitality destination Shiprow Village alongside Malones Irish Bar, The Aberdeen Douglas Hotel, and The Old Workshop Bar.
As Assistant Bar Manager, you'll play a key role in overseeing both our Indoor Bar and Terrace Bar, ensuring exceptional service standards while supporting and developing our bar team.
What we're looking for:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working behind a bar in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of beers, wines, spirits, and cocktails
- Experience in creating and developing drinks menus
- Stock control and ordering experience
- A good understanding of P&L and cost control
- Experience leading and supervising a team during busy shifts
- A passion for coaching, training, and developing team members
- A Personal Licence (preferred)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining high standards
Previous experience in a similar management or supervisory role would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the day-to-day management of the bar operation
- Leading shifts and motivating the team to deliver outstanding customer experiences
- Training and mentoring team members to develop their product knowledge and service skills
- Managing stock levels, wastage, and ordering
- Assisting with drinks menu development and seasonal promotions
- Monitoring bar performance and supporting profitability through effective P&L awareness
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, compliance, and licensing regulations

Working hours:
This role will include a mixture of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts, reflecting the nature of the hospitality industry.
