Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Yard Operative to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies using forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to move goods around the yard and storage areas
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control within the warehouse management system
- Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment, including forklifts and mechanical tools, performing basic maintenance or reporting issues as needed
- Manage materials handling tasks, including stacking, storing, and retrieving items in designated areas
- Support construction-related activities by transporting materials to job sites or designated locations within the yard
- Maintain a clean, organized yard environment by tidying storage areas and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times
Experience
- Previous warehouse experience is highly desirable, especially in construction or logistics environments
- Valid forklift certification with demonstrated experience operating forklifts in busy settings
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems for inventory tracking and order processing
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with materials handling equipment is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during daily tasks
- Experience in shipping & receiving processes, including documentation accuracy and load management
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to yard operations, heavy machinery, and materials handling
