Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our relief team in creating delicious culinary experiences.
You will have previous catering experience and a good understanding of food hygiene and Health and Safety requirements. You are organised, reliable and take pride in preparing food that is both nutritious and appealing.
The successful candidate will oversee food preparation, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure high-quality food production for residents and staff within the care home.
Duties:
- Prepare lunch and light evening meal, including any special dietary requirements for 40 staff and residents.
- Prepare home baked goods for tea and celebrations.
- Plan and direct food preparation, ensuring high quality and timely delivery
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed
- Maintain food safety standards and practices in compliance with regulations
- Manage inventory and control food costs effectively
- Create innovative menus that meet residents preferences and seasonal availability
Skills:
- Proficient in culinary techniques and food preparation
- Experience working in a care home environment

- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff
- Excellent organisational skills to manage kitchen operations efficiently

As the role involves working in an environment with vulnerable people a PVG certificate will be required. If you are not a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme, you will be asked to apply for membership before you can work with us.
