The Dorset All Age Eating Disorders Service (DAEDS) is seeking compassionate, caring and motivated Mental Health Support Workers to join our Adult Inpatient Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing specialist treatment and high-quality, person-centred care for individuals with eating disorders.
Previous experience supporting people with eating disorders in a mental health setting is desirable; however, empathy, compassion and a genuine commitment to supporting recovery are essential. Successful applicants will be able to work effectively within a busy, dynamic environment, demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills, and have a willingness to learn and develop.

The Adult Inpatient Unit operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This role requires participation in a shift rota, including nights. To support the safe and effective delivery of care, our preferred shift pattern is 7.5-hour day shifts, although longer shifts may be considered following discussion. To carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of, and supervised by, a Registered Nurse.
Carrying out assigned task which have been identified by the trained nursing staff in relation to patients’ needs.
To help supervise and support patients during and after mealtimes.
Making accurate records of patient observations.
To work unsupervised when offering verbal and emotional support to patients.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
