Position: Commercial Heating Engineer - Grade E+ (Facilities Management and Building Services)
Location: Puddlers Lane, MIDDLESBROUGH, TS6 6TL
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 5+ Months
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £16.90 per hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out the installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of commercial heating and gas systems
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs on commercial boilers, heating plant, and associated equipment
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across council properties
- Complete gas safety inspections, testing, and certification in accordance with current Gas Safety Regulations
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and complies with relevant legislation, industry standards, and council policies
- Identify and report defects, recommending remedial works where required
- Maintain accurate job records, service reports, and certification
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and complete repairs within agreed timescales
- Liaise with customers, contractors, and colleagues to ensure a high standard of service
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition
- Plan and manage workloads effectively to meet service priorities and deadlines
- Follow health and safety procedures and promote safe working practices at all times
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant heating or gas engineering qualification
- Current Gas Safe Registration with commercial gas modules relevant to the role
- Minimum of 3 years' experience carrying out commercial gas and heating maintenance and repair
- Good knowledge of current Gas Safety Regulations and commercial heating systems
- Experience fault finding, servicing, and repairing commercial boilers and associated plant
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and job requirements
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Methodical approach with strong attention to detail
