Are you passionate about supporting young people who need someone to believe in them?
We are recruiting Learning Mentors to join a dedicated Alternative Provision supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, trauma, high anxiety, and a range of additional learning needs.
This is an incredibly rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with students both in the classroom and out in the community, helping them to build confidence, develop life skills, and overcome barriers to learning.
The Role:
As a Learning Mentor, you will:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Support students both on-site and during outreach activities within the community
- Help students regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviours using a calm, nurturing and consistent approach
- Encourage engagement, confidence, independence and positive outcomes
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide the best support for each student
What We're Looking For:
We're keen to hear from applicants with experience in:
- Youth Work
- Education
- Residential Care
- Health & Social Care
- Mental Health Support
- Support Work or similar transferable roles
To be successful, you will:
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have access to your own vehicle, as you'll be transporting students to outreach activities and educational visits
- Hold GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- Be resilient, patient and confident when supporting students with complex needs
- Be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable young people
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
