Job Title: Post Fusion Operator (12-month fixed term contract)

Salary: £28,657
Working Hours: 39 hours per week on a 3-shift pattern Monday-Friday (dayshift, backshift and nightshift)
Role Overview
Krystal Technology UK Ltd is a specialist manufacturer of high-purity fused quartz and fused silica products, serving customers in demanding global markets including semiconductor, photonics, industrial and scientific applications. Operating from our manufacturing facility in Wallsend, the business combines a long heritage of technical expertise with a focus on innovation, quality and operational excellence.
The Post Fusion Operator is responsible for machining fused quartz materials into finished components that meet customer specifications using a range of production equipment. Working safely and in accordance with company procedures, the role is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, productivity and housekeeping whilst supporting the efficient delivery of the production plan.
Duties
- Safely handle fused quartz materials and finished components using appropriate manual handling techniques and lifting equipment where required.
- Set up, operate and monitor drilling, bandsaw, wiresaw and other production equipment to machine materials to customer specifications.
- Carry out visual, dimensional and quality inspections, accurately measuring and recording results where required.
- Follow the production plan to achieve customer requirements, production targets and quality standards.
- Operate equipment safely, reporting any faults, defects or maintenance requirements to the Team Leader.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring work areas remain clean, organised and compliant with 5S principles.
- Wear the appropriate PPE and comply with all health, safety, environmental and company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively to support the efficient flow of production.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality and operational efficiency.
- Participate in training and undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment involving manual handling activities.
- Understanding of safe manual handling principles and the ability to safely move materials and components using the appropriate handling techniques and equipment.
- FLT Licence.
- Knowledge and understanding of machining or production processes.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Experience of carrying out quality inspections and dimensional measurements.
- Computer literate, with previous experience of SAP, ERP or similar production systems.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce work to specification.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
- Understanding of continuous improvement principles, including 5S.
Pay: £28,657.00 per year
