General Manager – Crown & Crooked Billet, Woodford
£35,000 per year | 40 hours per week | Full-time
The Crown & Crooked Billet is a well-established community pub with a loyal local following, a fantastic garden and plenty of untapped potential.
We’re looking for an energetic, forward-thinking GM who can take what’s already good and push it to the next level.
We’re not looking for someone to simply keep things ticking over. We want someone who brings ideas, personality and momentum, someone who walks into a pub and thinks “what can we do better?”
The focus will be on raising service standards, developing a stronger events and entertainment programme, growing sales and giving customers more reasons to visit throughout the week.
There’s also a real opportunity to develop our cask ale offering. Sales are currently modest, but we’d love to build a reputation for excellent beer and cellar standards, with the Good Beer Guide firmly in our sights.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Lead from the front and deliver brilliant service
- Build and motivate a strong team
- Bring fresh ideas for events and entertainment
- Grow sales and attract new customers
- Develop our cask ale offering
- Manage labour, stock and margins
- Engage with the local community
- Put their own stamp on the pub
Previous pub management experience is preferred, but energy, ideas and attitude matter just as much.
The Crown already has a strong local customer base. The opportunity is to make it somewhere that people from further afield hear about and want to visit too.
