Purpose of the role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for running their designated section, preparing high-quality food and helping maintain the standards expected of a busy gastro pub.
This role would suit a reliable, organised chef who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, takes pride in presentation and can remain calm during busy services.
Responsibilities
· Prepare, cook and present dishes to the required standard.
· Take responsibility for the smooth running of an allocated kitchen section.
· Complete daily preparation and mise en place ahead of service.
· Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards consistently.
· Work closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team during service.
· Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements.
· Store, label and rotate ingredients correctly to minimise waste.
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.
· Follow all food-safety, allergen, hygiene and health-and-safety procedures.
· Accurately communicate and manage allergen requirements.
· Help receive and check deliveries for quality, quantity and temperature.
· Support stocktakes and assist with controlling food costs and wastage.
· Help train and supervise junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
· Contribute ideas for seasonal dishes, specials and menu development.
· Assist other sections when required.
· Open and close the kitchen or designated section in accordance with company procedures
Qualifications
- Food hygiene level 2
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Demi Chef de Partie, ideally within a gastro pub, restaurant or similarly busy kitchen.
- Experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and kitchen safety.
- Ability to run a section confidently during busy services.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in food quality and presentation.
- Good organisation and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work under pressure.
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification preferred, although training can be provided.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Hours- 5 days per week approx. 40.5h per week
Pay: £34,000.00 per year
