Smart Teachers is recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established secondary school in East London for a proactive and reliable Facilities Assistant to join their site team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous facilities, site, caretaking or maintenance experience who enjoys working in a busy school environment and takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and welcoming premises.
The Role:
As a Facilities Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring the premises remain safe, secure and well maintained. Duties will include:
- Assisting with the opening and closing of the school site
- Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs
- Setting up classrooms, halls and meeting spaces for school events
- Undertaking regular health and safety checks across the premises
- Supporting contractors and monitoring site access
- Moving furniture and equipment as required
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation around the school grounds
- Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with planned preventative maintenance
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in facilities, caretaking, site maintenance or a similar role
- Good practical maintenance and DIY skills
- An understanding of health and safety procedures
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible and proactive approach to work
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
