FULL TIME.
We have been established for 20 years collecting & delivering throughout Scotland.
The vacancy for the drivers' position will be based in Aberdeen/Inverurie area & the vehicle provided will be a Mercedes sprinter/VW Crafter 3.5t vehicle.
The job requires heavy lifting & a lot of manual labour & would be suited to someone who may have a labouring back ground. Although not essential having a labouring back ground the job would require someone who is physically fit.
You will have approx 20 collections per day & when returning to the yard you will be required to unload.
Start times will vary daily depending on the shop's open times (between 6am & 8am start time but could be earlier). The working day will be approx between 8 & 12 hours & a minimum of 40 hours per week. There is also paid overtime at time & half.
This position will be full-time Mon to Fri but may involve the odd weekend (overtime) to catch up.
You will be required to work on your own collecting & unloading.
The company vehicle may be allowed to be taken home by the right candidate but will not be aloud to be used for personal use.
Due to insurance purposes, you will have held your driving license for a least 4 years & ideally have a background in driving Sprinter vans etc.
The rate of pay will be determined depending on your experience.
A strong emphasis is placed on , safety awareness, and physical endurance for heavy lifting tasks.
Duties
- Safely operate delivery/collection vehicles, including , adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery/collection routes to ensure timely arrivals at customer locations.
- Load and unload goods, often requiring heavy lifting, while maintaining safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes.
- Maintain accurate records of collections, vehicle maintenance, and fuel consumption.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness.
Qualifications
- ideally but not essential, a proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial driving.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record or maximum 6 points.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes and manage time effectively.
- Physical fitness suitable for handling heavy loads and long periods of driving or standing.
