Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires a proactive approach to landscape care and maintenance. The position offers an opportunity to develop skills in horticulture, construction, and the use of specialised equipment, contributing to the overall aesthetic and safety of our grounds. Pay to be discussed dependant on experience and qualifications. The main attributes I am looking for are a willingness to learn, complete work to a high standard and take pride in jobs, able to arrive at work on time and ready for the day. Must be able to drive to WR6 each morning for work. Hours are increased in summer months and decreases during winter months but pay can be averaged out over 12 months so reliable and gurenteed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to promote healthy growth and visual appeal.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators, power tools, and irrigation systems safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools for trimming, edging, planting, and general grounds upkeep.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution.
- Assist with construction projects related to outdoor spaces, including installing features or structures as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the grounds by removing debris, leaves, and litter regularly.
- Monitor the health of plants and trees, identifying signs of pests or disease for appropriate action.
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times during operations to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Ability to help carry our landscaping and fencing jobs
Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening or similar role is preferred.
- Some knowledge related to operating machinery such as excavators and power tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with horticulture principles and gardening techniques.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems installation and maintenance.
- Basic understanding of construction practices relevant to outdoor environments.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining grounds standards.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including lifting, digging, and operating machinery over extended periods.
- Driving license preferable - must be comfortable driving a long wheel base van
- Over 21 due to insurance policies preferable
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £24,500.00-£34,000.00 per year
