About the role
We're looking for a reliable, detail-focused Domestic Assistant to join our housekeeping team. You will maintain a clean, hygienic and welcoming space for residents, families and staff, working to a set cleaning schedule and to strict infection control standards.
You'll be part of a team with shifts organised either 8am to 4pm or 10am to 6pm with structured handover between shifts to ensure all tasks are completed.
What you'll be doing:
- Cleaning residents' rooms, en-suites and communal areas to the daily schedule
- Making beds, changing linen, and keeping rooms neat and welcoming
- Laundry duties where applicable - collecting, washing and returning residents' clothing and home linen with care
- Following infection prevention and control procedures, including correct use of colour-coded equipment and COSHH-safe handling of cleaning chemicals
- Daily safety checks in vacant rooms (e.g. running taps to prevent Legionella)
- Reporting any maintenance issues, hazards or concerns about a resident's wellbeing
- Talking to residents, families and visitors politely and respectfully while you work, and respecting their privacy
- Ensuring full understanding and knowledge of the relevant home policies including safeguarding, health and safety, Laundry, Waste Management, COSHH and infection prevention and control
- Escalating any issues or concerns to the appropriate persons promptly
- Completing regular training and attending supervision meetings.
About you
You'll need:
- A positive, compassionate attitude towards older people
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
- To be reliable, trustworthy and able to work well on your own and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- To be comfortable with the physical demands of the role - standing, bending, lifting
- Flexibility for early starts, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
It helps if you have
- Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience, ideally in a care setting
- Awareness of COSHH or infection control requirements
Terms
- Subject to an Enhanced DBS check
- Two satisfactory manager references required, including from most recent role and any previous healthcare or vulnerable-adult settings
- 6-month probationary period
- Full ongoing right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available for this role)

Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
