Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Fleet Manager to work closely with the Fleet manager and Transport manager to assist in supporting our transportation and logistics operations. This role involves coordinating fleet activities, optimising processes, and ensuring efficient management of vehicles and trailers. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, experience with fleet management systems, and a keen eye for process improvements to contribute to the seamless operation of our fleet and drivers. We run a mixed fleet of 65 vehicles ranging from vans to 44T trucks based in Dagenham and have been in business since 1984.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the organisation and optimisation of fleet operations, including scheduling of planned maintenance.
- Support category management initiatives to optimise vehicle utilisation and procurement strategies.
- Contribute to process improvement projects aimed at enhancing transportation efficiency and reducing costs.
- Utilise Fleet management systems.
- Analyse data related to fleet performance, and supply chain metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate accidents and help reduce reoccurrence.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with the companies operators license and UK laws, including drivers tachograph reports and vehicle safety.
- Collaborate with the planning teams to maximise vehicle availability and reduce downtime.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fleet management.
- HGV license preferable
- Familiarity with vehicle management, process optimisation, and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Knowledge of vehicle safety standards.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex information for decision-making purposes.
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment, while staying calm under pressure.
