About the Role
As Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures within the organisation. This role involves developing and maintaining quality standards, monitoring and analysing product quality, aiding production to achieve production targets and leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall quality performance.
You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, customer requirements, and internal standards, while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the delivery of product for sale within agreed customer specifications.
- Support production to ensure each line is running smoothly, efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure factory is working to the relevant quality standards, e.g. HACCP to ensure food safety, statutory & Company standards are maintained.
- Ensure suitable product traceability records are maintained throughout the supply chain and maintain a product recall system.
- Work directly with production supervisors/managers and prepare regular management reports and trend analysis.
- Attend Management and Production meetings daily or as necessary.
- To oversee pest control visits and ensure the agreed-upon recommendations of the pest control company are implemented.
- Communicate technical information in a way that meets the needs of the target audience.
- Monitor factory and staff hygiene standards daily, informing relevant departments of any areas that require attention.
- To regularly monitor the production area and production processes, ensuring the factory complies with relevant regulations, and ensuring clean and safe working environment.
- Support staff with queries regarding food safety, quality, legality and allergen controls.
- Deputise for TM on external audits/visits to ensure positive outcome.
- Liaise with external bodies in relation to food safety issues e.g. FSA, EHO, Trading Standards.
- Check all labelling for legal compliance.
- Develop new approaches or technologies to ensure continuous improvement.
- Liaise with Human Resources on any investigations, disciplinary or grievance matters.
- Observe, act and immediately report any issues that may pose a threat to a safe working environment.
- Ensure that the circumstances of any accidents or incidents are recorded in detail, reported via specified methods and that any supporting documentation is completed promptly, including any statutory returns.
- Manage performance of Team members, setting goals and objectives and measuring outcomes.
- Undertake any other duties, as considered necessary.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Experience within food manufacturing.
- Food Safety Level 3.
- HACCP Level 3.
- Previous experience leading quality teams in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation, GMP and HACCP.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Food Safety Level 4.
- HACCP Level 4.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Knowledge of food specification systems.
- Experience working directly with customers and external auditors.
