As Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing daily bookkeeping activities, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers, supporting the Finance team with transactional accounting and financial administration.
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
Process purchase invoices and match them against purchase orders where required.
Raise and process sales invoices in a timely manner.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and other balance sheet accounts.
Process supplier payments and customer receipts.
Monitor outstanding customer invoices and support credit control activities.
Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements.
Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes.
Maintain the fixed asset register where applicable.
Record employee expenses and ensure compliance with company policies.
Support payroll preparation by providing accurate financial information.
Maintain organised financial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with financial reporting and management information as required.
Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal departments to resolve finance-related queries.
Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and relevant legislation.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
Previous experience in a bookkeeping or finance assistant role ideally / entry-level bookkeeping experience.
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar is ideal.
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
