We are looking for a fabulous energetic and personable complex needs support worker to join an established team in the Aston area of Sheffield (S26), caring for a delightful 5-year-old boy with very complex and changeable needs – with HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy), Cerebral Palsy, dystonia, intractable epilepsy, and who is home ventilated.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will play an important part in supporting his daily life, clinical needs, and overall wellbeing within the family home and out in the community, which could include educational and hospital settings
About the Role
- Providing two-to-one care
- Working as part of a supportive and dedicated care team
- Supporting with daily personal care, clinical needs, delivery of prescribed treatment programmes and supporting his personal development in therapy sessions
- Full-time contracts, hours: 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts)
- Day and waking night shifts available
- Weekend shifts included at an enhanced rate of pay
- Opportunities for additional shifts
- Fully employed position with holiday entitlement and pension
Skills & Experience
Complex care experience is essential. Experience with epilepsy management is required. Full training is provided and regularly updated. Experience in the following is desirable:
- Oral suctioning
- Catheter care
- Bowel care
- Medication administration
- PEG feeding
- Home ventilation
Requirements
- Must hold a clean, valid driving licence
- Must be able to travel within the Sheffield area
- Enhanced DBS check is required (if you do not hold a current one, we will apply for one on your behalf)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Kind, patient, reliable, and confident working in a private home setting
- A team player with excellent communication skills
- Confidence in decision making and ability to adapt to our client’s changing presentation
