The Role: Fitted Interiors Installer apprenticeship
Pay: £12,480.00 per year
Work Location: In person, Portsmouth, PO3 , with travel with the site team to different locations
Hours: 30 hours per week (4 days – days/times to be agreed)
Holiday: Standard holiday entitlement (pro-rata for 30 hours)
Reports to: Site Supervisor while on-site, Operations Manager

We are a growing Furniture and Equipment (F&E) business specialising in delivery and install (D&I), commercial clearances, and storage.

About the Role
This apprenticeship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain experience regarding the assembly, installation, and breakdown of furniture; correct handling of power tools; transporting tools and materials to site; and understanding schematic & floorplan drawings.
You will work along our team on-site, travelling to client locations, and reporting to the site supervisor for the day. No two days will be the same: One day you’ll be removing desks from a corporate site, the next you will be fitting tables at a local university café, and later in the week you will be in our warehouse loading trucks with furniture.
Key Responsibilities
- Building and installing items of furniture and equipment from instructions.
- Flat packing and disassembly of various items of furniture including desks, tables, cabinets, etc.
- Clearing furniture and re-installing everything at a new location without losing, damaging, or misplacing items; including IT hardware and cables.
- Using basic power tools including drill drivers, saws, reciprocators, skill saws, and all hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Reading floorplans/schematic drawings that the client provides and understand room layouts to place furniture correctly.
- Ensuring Vehicles are equipped with all necessary tools and equipment, and furniture items each day.
- Ensuring any items or furniture being transported are securely strapped in place to avoid damage or injury, utilising protective wrapping as required.
Apprenticeship Training
You will receive structured training through:
- Monthly one-to-one sessions with a dedicated trainer
- A mix of Teams sessions and on-site visits (flexible depending on business needs)
- Ongoing workplace learning and support
General Learning Modules Overview
- Health & Safety regulations and standards
- Interpreting and extracting information from drawings and modelling systems
- Fitted furniture assembly and installation methods and techniques
- Basic principles of Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electrical installation
- Common on-site snags, potential issue identification, and root cause analysis
- Environmental and sustainability regulations and standards
- Safe usage of tools and equipment
- Communication and team working skills
End Point Assessment (EPA)
- Knowledge Test
- Practical Observation
- Interview underpinned by 'Portfolio of evidence'
Full support and preparation will be provided throughout.
