Job Vacancy – Part Time Personal Care Assistant
A reliable and responsible Personal Care Assistant is required to work weekdays and at weekends for up to 16 hours per week. Shifts are minimum 4 hours and there is a certain flexibility about the days of work. Shifts start from 12.30pm to 10.30pm in the evening.
The Personal Care Assistant will provide care for a gentleman with motor neurone disease. The candidate must be able to demonstrate an awareness of motor neurone disease. The candidate’s essential attributes are kindness and patience. A friendly person is sought with a good work ethic. The ability to wet shave and handle into a wheelchair is sought.

The successful candidate will work under the auspices of the gentleman with motor neurone disease and will join a friendly team of carers working in a pleasant environment.
The gentleman with motor neurone disease is a former county squash player, highly intelligent and friendly. He is educated to degree level and is the Director of MicroProducts Systems Ltd. and is working on a care app. He is a strong chess player and represented Team England on the top boards in on-line chess.
Weekday rate of pay: £13.45/hour
Weekend rate of pay: £15.00/hour
Hours of work per week: Up to 16
Times of work: Flexible
Duties:
- Supporting and assisting with all personal care requirements
- Charting or taking notes for others to review
- Providing companionship and supportive listening
- Observing and reporting any changes in the health or status of the patient
- Taking vitals, height, and weight
- Preparing meals and feeding patients
- Maintaining patient’s health equipment
- Responding to emergency situations
- Prompting and administering medication
- Accompanying and transporting patients to appointments and/or social events
- Providing support with hobbies, studies, and social activities
