Delivery Driver / Yard Assistant
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver / Yard Assistant to join our Newtown team.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 5:30pm
- Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
The Role
A significant part of this role involves completing a daily inter-branch stock transfer. Each day, you will drive a Transit flatbed and trailer loaded with stock from our Welshpool branch to our Newtown branch and return to Welshpool at the end of the day. Ideally you will live in Welshpool or the surroundings.
In addition to driving duties, during the day you will assist with serving our Newtown customers with a range of yard and warehouse goods, working as part of a small, friendly team to ensure excellent customer service and efficient branch operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Completing daily stock transfers between Welshpool and Newtown branches
- Serving customers in Newtown yard in a friendly and professional manner
- Accurately picking, checking and preparing customer orders
- Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently
- Storing stock correctly and maintaining stock accuracy
- Checking incoming deliveries against supplier delivery notes
- Carrying out timber cutting duties as required
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
- Following all company health and safety procedures
- Providing excellent customer service at all times
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Organised, reliable and methodical approach to work
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Awareness of health and safety practices in the workplace
Desirable:
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence (training can be provided)
- Experience within the building materials or builders' merchant industry
