Learning Mentor – Supporting Children with SEMH Needs

A specialist school in Exeter is looking for dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), and other additional needs.
About the Role:
You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to create a calm, safe, and nurturing environment for learners who need a little extra support. This role is varied and rewarding—perfect for someone who truly cares about the wellbeing and development of young people.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Supporting students in lessons and through tailored 1:1 or small-group sessions
- Helping young people re-engage with learning through encouragement and trust
- Managing behaviour in a calm, consistent and positive way
- Assisting with planning and setting up fun, accessible learning activities
- Working as part of a supportive and passionate team
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (school, care, or similar)
- Is patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient
- Can build strong relationships based on kindness and trust
- Believes in the potential of every young person
- Is ready to learn and grow in a supportive environment
- Has a Full UK Driving License
- Is available 5 days a week
