Practical skills are required for ongoing and ad hoc maintenance work and improvement projects around the marina – it is envisaged that this part of the role may need flexibility around the weather.
This role would really suit someone with some time flexibility who is a natural practical problem-solver. You would be proactive in day-to-day upkeep and small projects, having a sense of pride in looking after the marina.

- Assist marina customers with queries on electricity and fob access systems
Practical Maintenance Tasks (5 hours per week with potential for additional seasonal hours)
- Assist with general upkeep and development projects around the marina
- Operate small machinery (eg mower, strimmer, concrete mixer) for gardening and light repairs (eg laying concrete/slabs/paths)
- Carry out landscaping tasks, staging / bank repairs, de-weeding and dredging using medium sized machinery (digger/dumper)
- Work independently to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Maintain machinery equipment and marina infrastructure (power, water, septic tank)
Skills
Essential
- Practical hands-on approach and good all-round maintenance skills
- Proven experience operating small and medium machinery
- Experience steering and handling boats and ability to use a rowing boat (for de-weeding marina basin)
- Must be able to swim and happy to use waders for “wet-work”
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently when required
- Organised with an attention to detail and safety
- IT literate
Desirable
- Experience working in marinas, canal or inland waterways
- Groundworks, landscaping, dredging or general maintenance experience
- Experience in a customer service and / or office environment
- ·Valid CPCS or NPORS ticket preferred
- Full UK driving licence preferred
The role is for a contracted 15 hours per week over Monday to Saturday (only some weekends) although we would ideally like some flexibility around the practical portion of these hours within each month (~20 hours per month) to best utilise those hours for required maintenance work. There could also be potential for additional hours at times to support improvement projects – this is likely to be more seasonal in nature.
