Purpose
Providing health and safety management support across Rule One Fire activities. Using specialist knowledge to champion safety, identify and share best practice throughout Rule One Fire, the Management Team and the wider operational teams. Coordinate, Communicate and consult with team members on H&S matters and share best practice.
Responsibilities
To provide ad-hoc operational H&S support and act as an active member of Rule One Fire
To manage the implementation and compliance of Rule One Fire’s strategic H&S policy, standards, instruction and guidance.
Support Rule One Fire HSEQ Director in developing and implementing the H&S operational improvements across the wider business.
Be an active member of the Rule One Fire Management Team providing practical safety advice, support and guidance on safety matters.
Facilitate and support a competent team of safety representatives to enable the consultation and participation of H&S initiatives.
Ensure the investigations into root causes of incidents relating to operations are conducted and to act as, where appropriate, lead investigator for medium to high-risk incidents.
Monitor and review training programmes to ensure engineers are competent to conduct their roles and all team members are suitably trained and aware of their task hazards.
Schedule and conduct, where required, office and client site safety tours, safety audits, visits and inspections. Where necessary, follow through and close out actions and recommendations as required.
Monitor the quarterly office inspection programme, ensuring prompt corrective and preventative action are taken within an allocated timeframe. Analyse safety performance data and to produce reports where required.
Monitor the procurement, appropriateness and use of PPE for all operations and advise teams of any PPE requirements or changes in legislation.
Work with client safety teams on key client sites and where appropriate, set up joint safety initiatives with other similar parties (within our industry).
Attend and facilitate H&S during business operation meetings, providing advice, support and key information.
Undertake continued professional development (CPD) through the development of safety competencies and safety networking opportunities.
Ensure all Risk Assessments are completed for tasks, responsibilities assigned and the teams have read and understood them to ensure control effectiveness.
Manage the day to day running of the Incident reporting system and ensure all team members are on the system with the necessary permissions.

Technical/Professional qualifications and requirements
Min – General Certificate in H&S (Tech IOSH)
Desirable: NEBOSH – Diploma level or equivalent degree (note this will be an opportunity to develop to a leader in the profession).
Proven track record in the built sector in H&S with robust understanding of the working conditions faced by our teams.
An assertive approach to problem solving with strong communication and diplomacy skills to guide, negotiate, influence and persuade at all levels.
Ability to work effectively with operational engineers and operational managers.
Enthusiastic, flexible and results-orientated approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
