UEC Mechanical Engineering is looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join our team in Immingham.
This is a hands-on and varied position for someone with strong knowledge of fabrication, welding and engineering quality. You will work closely with workshop, site and project teams to ensure work is completed safely, correctly and to the standards expected by our customers.
The role will be paid in accordance with Blue Book conditions.
You will support quality assurance activities throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial planning through to final documentation and client acceptance.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting welding quality assurance, inspection and material traceability, including visual weld inspection, verification of welding activities, producing as-builts, controlling consumables, issuing WPSs and reviewing material certificates.

Preparing and reviewing project quality documentation including ITPs, data dossiers, weld logs, technical queries, NDT reports and coating reports.

Coordinating and witnessing NDT, heat treatment, joint validation and pressure-testing activities.

Liaising with clients, third-party inspectors and operational teams.

Mechanically punching and walking lines for site installations.

Responding to, logging and maintaining customer complaints and satisfaction processes.

Raising and managing internal and external NCRs.

Controlling, maintaining and updating calibration records.

Witnessing site-based welder qualification tests and arranging supporting NDT.

Writing Quality Plans and/or ITPs for client approval.

Marking up and distributing isometrics to production.

Setting up and maintaining material gross matrices and material traceability documentation.

Distributing weld procedures to workshop and site teams.

Visually examining welds, interpreting radiographs and witnessing pressure tests.

Writing and submitting technical queries.

Compiling and controlling data dossiers and quality packs.

Raising NDT requests and coordinating NDT subcontractors.

Reviewing and controlling NDT/PWHT procedures, reports and NDT qualifications.

Reviewing and logging coating reports and procedures.
-
Reviewing subcontractor quality procedures and quality packs.

Liaising directly with client inspectors.

Reviewing, updating and maintaining consumable certificates and supporting databases.
This is an opportunity to influence how quality is managed across the business and help prevent issues before they arise.
You will have practical experience within a fabrication, welding or engineering environment, with the confidence to apply quality requirements in both workshop and site settings.
You must hold a recognised Welding Inspection qualification, such as:

CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2, or

PCN Level II
Experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

You will also be organised, solutions-focused and able to build effective working relationships while maintaining the quality standards expected by the business and its customers.
The role is based in Immingham, although travel to company and customer sites may be required depending on project requirements.
You may also be required to provide temporary support to other businesses within the Ropsley Group from time to time.
Pay and associated conditions will be in accordance with the Blue Book.
