Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to lead our recreational programs and foster an engaging environment for our residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior care, dementia, and Alzheimer’s care, with excellent communication skills and a passion for enriching the lives of older adults. As Activities Coordinator, you will plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of stimulating activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents.
Duties
- Develop and implement a wide range of engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ interests, preferences, and cognitive abilities to personalize activity plans.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, games, and outings that enhance residents’ quality of life.
- Monitor residents’ participation and provide encouragement to ensure inclusive participation across all levels of ability.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident engagement levels, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and joy among residents through meaningful engagement.
- Stay informed about best practices in senior care, dementia support, and Alzheimer’s care to continually enhance activity offerings.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes with senior populations.
- Knowledge of dementia care principles and experience supporting residents with Alzheimer’s disease.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to plan creative activities tailored to diverse cognitive and physical abilities.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine desire to improve residents’ well-being through engaging programs.
- Prior experience in caregiving or activity coordination within a care home setting is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams dedicated to senior care.
