Job Overview:
We are seeking a junior chef with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a passion for food and customer service to join our team. As kitchen assistant you will be responsible for working weekend and evening service (handling fryers, quickly and accurately assembling sandwiches, and running food). Interaction with customers is highly likely as our team is responsible for running food, so it is imperative that you feel comfortable in a semi customer-facing role. Team-members will be cross-trained on various stations from cook to assembly to expediting. Prior kitchen experience required. Consistent weekend availability is a must. Pay rises consistent with new mastery of various stations, skill sets, and responsibilities.
Duties:
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks, such as cutting chicken, making sauces, and baking biscuits off.
- Ensure that all food items are stored properly and comply with food safety regulations
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
- Follow proper food handling procedures to maintain freshness and quality
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Ability to maintain composure and focus in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Commitment to a clean, safe work environment, food safety regulations and best practices
