We are looking for an experienced and qualified Retrofit Assessor / Technical Surveyor to join our growing renewables team.
This is a varied field-based role combining domestic energy assessment, PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessments and detailed technical surveys for Solar PV and Battery Storage installations.
The successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring projects are correctly assessed, technically viable and accurately documented before being passed through to design and installation.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
- Completing full Retrofit Assessments in accordance with PAS 2035
- Undertaking property condition assessments
- Completing occupancy assessments
- Collecting all information required for retrofit assessment and coordination
- Carrying out detailed Solar PV technical site surveys
- Carrying out detailed Battery Storage technical site surveys
- Assessing roof construction, orientation, pitch, condition and available installation area
- Recording roof dimensions and identifying potential shading issues
- Assessing suitable locations for PV inverters, battery systems and associated electrical equipment
- Assessing proposed cable routes and installation requirements
- Reviewing existing electrical installations, consumer units, metering arrangements and incoming supplies
- Identifying potential installation constraints before works commence
- Taking detailed photographs, measurements and site information
- Producing accurate survey documentation for our design and technical teams
- Highlighting any additional works or remedial requirements identified during the survey
- Liaising with customers, designers, Retrofit Coordinators and installation teams
- Ensuring surveys comply with company procedures, MCS requirements and applicable industry standards
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a qualified Retrofit Assessor
- Hold a recognised Domestic Energy Assessor / EPC qualification
- Be competent in completing domestic EPC assessments
- Have a good understanding of PAS 2035
- Have strong technical and surveying skills
- Be confident working independently in customers' homes
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Be comfortable using digital survey forms, tablets and mobile applications
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Hold a full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
It would be particularly beneficial if you are also:
- A qualified Retrofit Coordinator
- Experienced with Solar PV and Battery Storage systems
- Familiar with MCS requirements
- Familiar with domestic electrical installations
- Experienced in renewable energy technical surveying
- Familiar with TrustMark and PAS 2030/PAS 2035 projects
- Experienced working within ECO, SHDF, social housing or other funded retrofit programmes
- Familiar with Solar PV design software and technical design processes
Training can be provided on our specific Solar PV and Battery Storage survey requirements for candidates who already have a strong retrofit and technical background.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is technically minded, methodical and capable of looking beyond simply completing a survey form.
You should be able to attend a property, understand how the proposed renewable energy system will practically be installed and identify potential problems before the installation team arrives on site.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable speaking with customers while also working closely with our internal technical, design and operations teams.
