Turn Fabric Into Fun
Welcome to The Play Company
At The Play Company, we don’t just build play areas, we create the places where childhood happens.
From the UK to Europe and the US, we design and manufacture one-of-a-kind play environments that spark imagination, laughter, and adventure. As a family-run business, we believe the best experiences, for our customers and our team, come from care, craftsmanship, and people who genuinely enjoy what they do.
What you sew today… becomes part of someone’s childhood tomorrow.
Why This Role Feels Different
This isn’t just sewing, it’s craftsmanship with impact.
Every stitch you make contributes to something bigger: safe, imaginative play spaces used by thousands of children.
We trust our people and give them room to grow. We take pride in high standards and getting things right. We believe work should feel welcoming, supportive, and even a bit fun. We are crafting fun after all!
The Role: Sewing Operative
We’re growing, and we’re looking for skilled, hands-on people who want to be part of that journey.
As part of our sewing team, you’ll help bring our soft play designs to life. Working with a supportive, experienced team while continuing to build your own skills.
You’ll be trusted, supported, and given the chance to learn more than just one part of the process.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sewing high-quality soft play products to meet project deadlines
- Working across different build stations (including sewing, web deck, and CNC)
- Learning how designs translate from 2D/3D concepts into real products
- Checking your work to ensure it meets safety and quality standards
- Supporting stock takes and keeping everything organised
- Keeping your workspace clean, safe, and efficient
- Building strong relationships with your teammates
- Playing an active part in a positive, team-first culture
What Makes You a Great Fit
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craft and enjoys being part of a team.
You’ll thrive here if you:

- Enjoy learning new skills and working with different equipment
- Are able to work in a fast paced environment, meeting tight deadlines
- Can manage your own workload and stay organised
- Communicate well and support those around you
- Take safety seriously and follow best practices
You don’t need to know everything, we’ll support you to learn the rest.
