Pay rate : £12.71 per hour
Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 9am - 6 pm (Alternate weekend working required)
About the Role
We are currently looking for Kitchen Assistants to join our team on a permanent basis.We require staff that are compassionate and empathetic to the needs of our services.
Hawthorne House is a modern, purpose-built specialist mental health care facility in the Tile Hill area of West Coventry. It provides specialist care and rehabilitation for adults with mental health and other needs, including all types of dementia, acquired brain injury (ABI), physical disabilities and learning needs, step-down, respite, nursing, and end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities for this Role :
- Act as the key co-ordinator of the kitchen
- Assist in efficiently organising the menu orders for the residents
- Communicate food orders and changes to the catering firm in time for appropriate delivery
- Accept, check and store the delivery of the food in an appropriate and timely manner
- Maintain and monitor the efficiency of the fridge/freezer by monitoring and recording the temperature to meet food-regeneration requirements
- Assist in devising and auditing the menus to assist with the monitoring of wastage and reaching the optimum level possible with residents’ choice
- Take food samples as required under Health and Safety regulations
- Take responsibility of the efficient maintenance, ordering and storage of all sundry food provisions for the kitchen
- Report any concerns related to food delivery and the management of the kitchen to the Unit Manager or Nurse in charge
- To prepare and deliver food supplies to other units where appropriate
- Prepare food in accordance to special dietary requirements
- Ensure all food in the fridge is covered, rotated, dated and labelled
- Ensure cleaning rota is followed
- Prepare food for ad hoc events such as parties and themed nights
