Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and engaging person to join our SEND Sensation Team working across Mid Essex and North Essex. The Engagement Officer will support the Team to promote engagement activities across five districts and help to signpost and build positive relationships with SEND families and delivery partners. You will work with the Service Manager, Community Partners, Mainstream Partners, and SEND families to help to signpost to our clubs and activities and connecting with people to help grow our community. This new role will support engagement activities, promotional events, social media posts, monthly newsletters, and website content, making sure information is clear, welcoming, accessible and easy to understand for everyone. This is a creative and people-focused role for someone who enjoys communication, teamwork and community engagement, and who is passionate about making a positive difference for SEND children, young people and families.
Experience and education requirements
- Demonstrable experience of promoting teamwork and community engagement including verbal and email communications and social media posting.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering successful customer services with positive customer relationships and improving consistent, high-quality communications.
- Understanding of how to build positive relationships and make a positive difference for SEND children, young people and families.
- Understanding of how to build positive relationships and provide improvement feedback for club and activity providers in mainstream settings.
- Experience of effective working within a team environment and in isolation using technology and digital skills including Microsoft365.
- Experience of updating website, social media, and printed and digital marketing material.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to empathise, support and resolve issues for stakeholders using both spoken and written word.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to support multiple stakeholders, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Level 3 or above qualification in marketing and customer relationship and/or similar professional training or experience of 1 year or more.
Duties and key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of partner activities, engagement events and consultation opportunities alongside the Service Manager.
- Attend community sessions, clubs, activities and engagement events to engage with families, gather feedback, identify future needs and opportunities and build positive relationships.
- Support the coordination and promotion of partner events and activities, ensuring information and schedules are accurate and up to date.
- Design and share high-quality media and copy on our social media channels each week, including Facebook and Instagram.
- Share relevant useful resources and information related to the SEND community from trusted sources
- Monitor our social media channels and responding in a timely manner to comments and messages, working with the wider team to signpost as needed
- Ensure all content on our social media channels is accessible and consistent with the SEND Sensation brand
- Maintain and update the information on the SEND Sensation website include creating engaging copy for the SEND Sensation blog.
- Create and send monthly e-newsletters to SEND Sensation stakeholders using Mailchimp templates and manage the data on Mailchimp of subscribers, working with the wider team to ensure data is up-to-date.
- Ensure all literature and marketing materials are produced to a high standard and support the wider team to prepare documents and reports.
- Work with partners and families to create case studies for commissioner reporting and media content.
- Maintain and update booking and membership systems, including event registrations and participant information.
- Support delivery partners to reduce administration and marketing tasks.
- Support building the effective teamwork roles and responsibilities with Service Manager.
- Monitor and respond to calls/emails, attend regular staff meetings, bring ideas and suggestions to the team.
- Any other relevant duties and key responsibilities to support our strategic priorities.
This position will be ‘hybrid working’ which includes working from our Colchester offices, working at our community spaces in Mid-Essex and North-Essex, and working with our key stakeholders across Essex. Use of a personal vehicle is essential with mileage allowance reclaimed for business travel. 37.5 hours per week including weekend work.
Pay: £26,228.00 per year
