Job Summary
We are looking for a talented and experienced self-employed Bridal Seamstress to join our friendly bridal boutique on a freelance basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality bridal alterations, ensuring every gown fits perfectly and every bride feels confident for her special day. You will work closely with our team and clients, providing professional fittings, expert advice, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Carry out bridal gown alterations to the highest standard.
- Attend and conduct fitting appointments with brides.
- Pin, alter, and finish gowns to agreed deadlines.
- Advise brides on the best alteration options to achieve the perfect fit.
- Maintain excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Manage your own schedule and workload while coordinating with the boutique's appointment calendar.
- Deliver outstanding customer service throughout the alteration process.
Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Dressmaking, Fashion, Garment Construction, or a related subject (preferred but not essential).
- Proven experience in bridal, couture, occasionwear, or formalwear alterations.
- Exceptional sewing, fitting, and garment construction skills.
- Experience working with delicate fabrics such as lace, tulle, satin, chiffon, and beading.
- Ability to accurately measure, pin, alter, and finish garments to a high standard.
- Self-employed status (or willingness to register as self-employed).

- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional, friendly approach.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with the boutique team.
- Proven experience as a seamstress or tailor with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail with a keen eye for colour matching, fabric quality, and finishing touches.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings or sketches accurately.
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients regarding design preferences and adjustments.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to sewing environments is desirable.
