We are looking for an experienced and supportive Responsible Individual (RI) to join our children’s residential care service.
This is a great opportunity for someone who understands children’s residential care and wants to work closely with a supportive leadership team to help maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance.
We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, approachable and confident in providing oversight and guidance to our Registered Manager and wider team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Responsible Individual, you will:
- Work closely with the Registered Manager and Directors.
- Provide regular support, guidance and professional challenge.
- Maintain oversight of the quality of care provided to children.
- Help ensure the home continues to meet Ofsted requirements.
- Review safeguarding matters and significant incidents.
- Maintain oversight of Regulation 40 notifications where required.
- Review Regulation 44 reports and support the manager with any actions.
- Contribute to Regulation 45 quality-of-care reviews.
- Monitor children’s experiences, progress and outcomes.
- Review staffing, training and supervision arrangements.
- Support service improvement and development.
- Help prepare the home for Ofsted inspections.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with Ofsted, local authorities and other professionals.
- Visit the home regularly and remain familiar with the service, staff and children.
What We’re Looking For
We would like to hear from someone who has:
- Good experience within children’s residential care.
- Previous management or senior leadership experience.
- A good understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
- Experience working with Ofsted-regulated services.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- The confidence to support and challenge managers appropriately.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children.
Previous experience as a Responsible Individual, Registered Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager or senior manager within children’s residential care would be welcomed.
Qualifications
A relevant management or children’s residential care qualification is desirable, including a Level 5 qualification where applicable.
We are also happy to consider candidates with strong relevant experience and suitable professional qualifications.
