About Me: Hi, I’m Eilidh, I’m an 18-year-old first-year student starting at Edinburgh Napier University to study Journalism. I have Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) which affects my balance, coordination and energy levels. I use a wheelchair most of the time and I’m very independent and always try to do as much as I can myself. I’m really chatty & friendly, and I’m looking for people who won’t just be a reliable carer but someone I can get along with and build a good relationship with too.
Morning Support - 90 minutes*
- Help me get up and out of bed
- Assist with getting dressed, drying hair and putting on shoes
- Help with breakfast if needed
- Supervise transfers as required
- Shower support only when needed (not daily)
Evening Meal Support - 30 minutes*
- Help prepare and cook my evening meal
- Wash dishes
Bed Time Support - 30 minutes*
- Supervise showering before bed
- Remind me to take my medication
- Help me get ready for bed
*Hours may change weekly
Additional Tasks (flexible hours)
- Help with sorting weekly medication into my Monday–Sunday pill organisers
- Changing and washing bedding
- Helping with laundry
- Light general tidying as needed
- Female (preferred) applicants aged 18+
- Kind, patient and reliable
- Happy to work flexibly on a rota basis
- Good communication skills
- Experience with personal care or disability support is a bonus but not essential; full guidance will be given
- Someone who respects my independence and helps me only when I need it
- All times are still to be finalised
- This role is perfect for another university student (in nursing, physio etc) looking for regular part-time work
- Male applicants will be considered for non-personal care duties including meal time support, laundry and medication organisation
- PVG membership is required

The Self-directed Support Service exists to support people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using direct payments. As an organisation we are not the employer but assist people to look for staff if they need them. If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of Option 1 (Direct Payment) and not with the Self-directed Support Service.
Pay: £14.50 per hour
