We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager to join us at our Newton Abbot office!
This role requires you to work closely with a Partner in delivering a first-class service to our clients and managing varied portfolios. You will be responsible for delivering excellent account management support across the department and business, building and continuing long standing relationships with clients ensuring that you become a trusted advisor and actively contribute towards the success of their businesses.
You will be working on a range of clients (sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies) to provide a high-quality tax, accountancy and VAT service with a high degree of accuracy.
This role has the potential to be a pathway to partnership in future.
- Managing and reviewing clients’ files and portfolios
- Ensure client files and portfolios are complete and ready for final sign off by a Partner within the set deadlines
- Giving tax advice to clients, including but not limited to income, corporate and capital tax
- Meet with clients as required with the Partner or on your own
- Ensure all documentation is up to date and accurate before meetings and sent to the Partner in a timely manner
- Undertaking ad-hoc specialist work
- Monitor and resolve employee and client enquiries and concerns promptly and accurately
- Assist with delegation of the day to day workflow (WIP) and distribution of work to the team.
- Setting and reviewing budgets for work
- Billing - Raising monthly invoices for clients or as required (including any special work or additional duties carried out)
- Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with your work
- Regularly reviewing client fees to ensure work is valued correctly and reporting to the Partner
- Continuous development and training of the team
- Reviewing team performance in line with company policy
- Assist the team to make improvements and implement required changes
- Continuous professional development to deepen own knowledge and understanding
- Keep up to date with all compliance changes, regulations and law that may occur within the industry
- Immediately report problems that may impact on the organisation or our clients to the Partners
- Ability to cover for the Partner as and when required
- Participate in business development activities
- Daily accurate completion of timesheet
- ACCA/ACA qualified, with at least 5 years post qualified experience
- Experience of working in practice advantageous, with experience of accounts preparation, business and corporate tax and ideally personal tax
- Accounts preparation experience gained from within a fast-paced accountancy practice environment
- Experience in acquisition and sales of businesses
- Strong Computer and Spreadsheet Skills
- Knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Quickbook or Xero, as well as accounts production software such as CCH
- Ability to show initiative and work within a team.
- Ability to build strong client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to build rapport with people at various levels
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload in a timely manner while all the time ensuring we exceed client expectations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Management experience
- ACCA/ACA qualified, with at least 5 years post qualified experience
