Job description:
Reporting to the Aftersales Director, you will be an integral part of the success of the overall Service Department performance. While working closely with the Workshop Controller, you will lead the Workshop team of technicians, you will be responsible for ensuring that all service and repair work is carried out efficiently and to the highest standards. You will manage the Technicians to ensure that all company policies are adhered to and will be their Line Manager. You will monitor and agree repair methods with the technicians and ensure that they gain authorisation for repairs. You will be expected to monitor technician/job efficiency and liaise with the Workshop Controller, where there is likely deviation from what has been agreed with the customer. You will liaise with customers on a technical level and give help and advice where needed.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Be responsible for the overall performance of the workshop, to ensure targets in efficiency and productivity are achieved.
- Maximise labour and parts sales, while continuing to give the customer value for money.
- Manage the quality of all work produced by workshop technical team.
- Ensure that there is a robust quality control process in place, whereby all work is checked before vehicles are released to the customer.
- Manage, motivate and train the team of Technicians.
- Early each working day, and ideally the previous evening, liaise with the Service Administration team and Workshop Controller, to determine the job priorities and required workshop throughout for the coming working day.
- Monitor progress of jobs in the workshop and advise the Service Administration team and Aftersales Director of any delays or issues.
- Allocate work to the appropriate Technicians, advising them of the times allocated for the work in hand.
- Ensure maintenance of health & safety in the workshop.
- To ensure the timely investigation and resolution of operational and Health and Safety issues.
- Ensure that there is a robust process in place so that repairs are reported directly to you, and you alone authorise the repair method.
- Ensure that there is a robust process in place so that the Aftersales Director is aware of repair method and associated costs, so that authorisation can be gained from the customer.
- Liaise with customer on technical queries.
- Ensure that all workshop warranty processes are maintained. I.E faulty parts returned to the Parts Department washed, labelled and serial numbers taken.
- Ensure Workshop cleanliness.
- Ensure that workshop waste is disposed of in an environmentally friendly fashion.
