Reports to: Site Operations Manager
Role Overview: Senior Operations Manager – Tallington
What our new ‘Site Operations Manager’ will be doing:
- Take full accountability for achieving site health, safety, and environmental targets, fostering a strong safety culture through visible leadership and communication across all shifts.
- Lead and continuously improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices to enhance performance, efficiency, and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development and delivery of strategic and operational objectives aligned to business goals.
- Drive site profitability through effective analysis of operational and financial performance data.
- Manage site budgets, control operational expenditure, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing improvement plans to achieve operational excellence.
- Lead organisational design, workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
- Enhance customer service performance through the implementation of robust operational processes and continuous improvement activities.
- Support the development and optimisation of ERP systems, data integrity, and operational reporting capabilities.
- Coach and develop frontline leaders to improve people management, training effectiveness, engagement, and performance metrics.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives, embedding proven lean principles and methodologies across the site.
- Support business growth strategies, including organic expansion, acquisitions, and performance improvement programs.
- Identify and implement best practices to improve operational effectiveness, productivity, and overall site performance.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate training and development to perform their roles safely and effectively.
- Manage contractor activities on site, ensuring compliance with company standards, health and safety requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Oversee preventative and planned maintenance programs to maximise equipment reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to site teams, creating a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to deliver operational excellence and support long-term business objectives.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people performance across the site.
The experience our new ‘Site Operations Manager’ will have includes:
- Must have previous experience work experience as an Operations Manager or in similar role within a mid to large sized manufacturing environment, which included machining and assembly functions.
- Degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field is essential, with a formal Engineering qualification advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years in a Senior Operations role within a busy manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to be flexible and to work across all sites, as required.
- Strong demonstrable LEAN experience and background.
- NEBOSH safety qualified or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or accredited Lean / CI qualified.
- Experience in rapid growth and large business transitional change programs.
- Previous P&L responsibilities, budgeting, and forecasting is essential.
- Experience and responsibilities with Capital Investment.
- Excellent employee engagement skills.
- Proven, demonstrable experience in business improvement.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience leading high-performing teams.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in the development and growth of a facility and business through organic and M&A development desirable.
- Having a good understanding of finances, supply chain, workflow and staffing would be advantageous.
- Experience in a Manufacturing environment of injection moulded parts and assembly is desirable.
- Proven project management skills and knowledge is desirable.
