Job Overview
Rabbit Patch Day Nursery is looking for a kitchen assistant who brings warmth, reliability and a love of good hearty food to our busy rural nursery. You'll play a key part in keeping our children well-fed, safe and smiling throughout the day.
Duties
- Daily meal prep - helping prepare nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks and tea for the nursery community.
- Kitchen organisation - keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and running smoothly.
- Food safety routines - following hygiene procedures, logging temperatures and supporting allergy-safe practices.
- Team support - working closely with our cook and nursery team to ensure mealtimes are calm, efficient and joyful.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or food preparation is highly desirable
- Experience working in a restaurant or similar food service environment is advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards required for handling young children's meals
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and assist with meal preparation tasks efficiently
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, including cleaning protocols and inventory management
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and support staff
- Enthusiasm for working with children in a caring, respectful manner
