Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to provide vital assistance to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASCs). Duties
- Build trusting relationships with unaccompanied children, offering emotional support and guidance throughout their asylum journey
- Assist children with daily routines, including personal care, meal preparation, and recreational activities
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that address each child's unique needs, aspirations, and safety considerations
- Support children in accessing educational, health, and social services to promote their overall well-being
- Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and care activities using IT systems designed for case management
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, external agencies, and families to coordinate support services and ensure consistent care
- Drive or accompany children to appointments or activities as needed, ensuring safe transportation and adherence to all safety protocols
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children or young people in a caring or support capacity
- Valid driving license and ability to drive safely; willingness to undertake driving duties as part of the role
- Knowledge of childcare practices, safeguarding procedures, and child protection policies
- Ability to develop detailed care plans tailored to individual needs while maintaining flexibility for changing circumstances
- Excellent communication skills—empathetic listening, clear verbal expression, and professional written reporting
- Proficiency in using IT systems for record-keeping, reporting, and communication purposes
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
