Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team. This role involves managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping tasks, and supporting the overall financial health of our organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience with various accounting software programmes and a strong understanding of accounts payable processes. Responsibilities
- Sales Ledger – you will be responsible for running monthly statements and sending out to customers;
- Purchase Ledger – record invoices on the accounts system; match invoices to receipts; schedule invoices for payments; create payment runs (in multiple currencies) and set payments up on the banking system;
- Bookkeeping tasks – matching receipts to customer accounts; reconciling bank accounts (we have Sterling, Euro and Dollar bank accounts); closing down sales and purchase ledgers at the end of each month and at the end of the financial year;
- Preparing VAT returns – creating and submitting quarterly VAT returns; scheduling VAT payments; liaising with HMRC as necessary;
- Journals - creating and processing journal entries as necessary to keep our accounts in good order;
- Updating spread sheets – a number of different spread sheets are maintained to aid with planning and reconciliation. This includes running a number of month-end reports which are used by the Directors and / or our external accountants.
- Cash flow management – maintaining our cash-flow spread sheet; forecasting cash requirements, creating foreign currency deals in order that funds are available in whatever currency they are required to pay our suppliers (Sterling, Euro and Dollars);
- Intrastat – maintaining and reporting our EC sales records to HMRC as required;
- External liaison – maintaining a good working relationship with our accountants and providing such information as they require for the production of monthly and annual accounts; liaise with HMRC as required; answer queries on both sales and purchase ledgers;
Qualifications
- Previous bookkeeping experience is essential
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage own workload and to work as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to manage a significant workload with competing priorities
- Computer literate on Word, Outlook etc. strong Excel skills;
- Be confident and outgoing with clients, friendly and sociable with a sense of humour and flexible approach to work
- A proactive and energetic personality
