PCV Technician / Mechanic
The Travellers Choice Coaches is a leading coach operator based in Carnforth, Lancashire. Established in 1872, we have built an outstanding reputation for quality, reliability, and customer service. As a Coach Marque accredited operator, we pride ourselves on maintaining a modern fleet of over 100 immaculate coaches and midi-coaches.
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated PCV / HGV Technician / Mechanic to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will share our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety, presentation, and reliability.
Working Hours
Shift pattern:
- 3 late shifts: 09:00 – 19:30
- 3 early shifts: 06:00 – 16:30
- 3 days off
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs)
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and present vehicles for inspection
- Complete servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs to a high standard
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required
- Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults
- Complete all relevant maintenance records and paperwork accurately
- Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently in line with company standards
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in heavy vehicle maintenance
- Ability to undertake all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repairs to a high standard
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
- Full, valid UK driving licence (Category B)
- General computer literacy skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Category D PCV licence (full training available for the successful candidate)
- Experience using digital fleet management systems
- Experience with VCADS, GEL test, or similar diagnostic software
- Previous experience working with coaches, buses, or commercial vehicles
