Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Owner/Driver to operate independently within our team. This role involves managing your own vehicle to deliver goods efficiently and reliably to various destinations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial driving, excellent communication skills, and experience in warehouse operations or heavy lifting. As a self-employed owner driver, you will enjoy the flexibility of running your own business while representing our company professionally on the road.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate your own vehicle to deliver goods to designated locations in a timely manner
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and in accordance with schedule
- Maintain communication with delivery coordinator regarding delivery status and any unforeseen issues
- Handle goods with care, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring items are secured during transit
- Conduct routine vehicle checks and basic maintenance to ensure road worthiness
- Keep detailed records of deliveries, mileage, and expenses for invoicing purposes
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations at all times
- Build positive relationships with customer collection and delivery points through professional conduct and effective communication
Experience
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles is highly desirable
- Proven track record in warehouse operations or handling heavy lifting tasks is advantageous
- Familiarity with driving large vehicles such as lorries or vans in a professional capacity
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and dispatch teams
- Valid UK driver’s licence.
- Experience managing your own business operations is beneficial but not essential.
- Insurance documentation is in order and correct for the transportation of goods and the vehicle on the road
