Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and reliable Truck Driver to join our small family run company. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a 44ton commercial vehicle with tautliners and curtain sided trailers, to deliver goods efficiently across various locations. This role requires excellent driving skills, nights out with some possibility of getting home occasionally if required, good communication abilities to ensure timely and secure deliveries while maintaining high safety standards. A company pension is available and a good rate of pay. Driver must hold a driver CPC card, digital tachograph card and a clean licence preferred and be over 25 years of age for insurance purposes.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Deliver goods to designated locations promptly, ensuring accurate loading and unloading procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports.
- Follow all health and safety protocols to minimise risks during transportation and loading activities.
Requirements
- Valid <PERSON> driver’s licence with a preferably clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving and delivery roles.
- Strong driving skills with a focus on safety and adherence to traffic laws.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Experience operating curtain sided and tautliner trailers or similar.
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with team members and clients.
