About the Role
An accounting firm looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a diverse range of clients across multiple industries and wants to grow further.
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support our office in delivering high-quality accounting and bookkeeping services to a varied portfolio of clients.
Key Responsibilities
· Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple clients.
· Process sales and purchase invoices, receipts, and payments.
· Perform bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations.
· Prepare and submit VAT returns.
· Assist with the preparation of management accounts and year-end accounts.
· Process payroll and maintain payroll records (where applicable).
· Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and resolve queries.
· Assist with self-assessment tax returns and corporation tax compliance.
· Support senior accountants with client accounting and advisory work.
· Maintain organised digital records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and firm procedures.
· Use cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
· Other responsibilities as may be delegated.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
· Previous experience in bookkeeping or an accounts assistant role.
· Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Strong organisational and time management skills.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to take initiatives and manage multiple client deadlines and priorities.
Desirable
· Experience working within an accounting practice.
· Knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or other cloud accounting software.
· Qualified by degree or experience.
· Payroll and VAT experience.
