Overview
We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join our friendly kitchen team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract for approximately 9 months.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality pastries, desserts and baked goods while working in a busy hotel kitchen with a strong focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Hours
The current rota is approximately 40 hours per week over 4 days, typically consisting of:
- Three early shifts: 7:00am – 4:00pm
- One weekend long shift: 7:00am – 10:00pm
We understand that flexibility is important, so we’re happy to discuss alternative working patterns, such as five shorter days, for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for producing a wide range of fresh pastry items and ensuring consistently high standards across all areas of pastry production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and producing high-quality afternoon teas.
- Creating restaurant desserts to a consistently high standard.
- Batch baking focaccia, pastries and other baked goods.
- Assisting with seasonal menu development and new dessert ideas.
- Ordering ingredients and managing stock levels.
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and HACCP standards.
- Working closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Qualification
- Has previous experience as a Pastry Chef or Pastry Chef de Partie.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in presentation.
- Can manage their own section efficiently in a busy service.
- is passionate about quality ingredients and producing outstanding food.
- Holds a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred, in house training available).
